A sense of leisurely life with a distinctive character
“Come and sit wherever you’d like, the floor is comfy as well!” Entering Nanwan PS B&B, the hostess Ellen, who’s easygoing and accommodating, warmly greets you, while the other hostess Jessie is preparing welcoming sparkling drinks at the open kitchen next to the living room. This cozy lodging space is reformed from an old building and arranged by Ellen who has a design background. The ground floor has the lobby and is the space which the hostesses actually live in. It's loaded with Ellen’s collection of vintage items and her favorite decorations, such as a surfboard in the corner, an old lamp fixture from the shooting studio, photographs of the ocean, along with books and plants. These all blend into a colorful interior with a raw touch of polished concrete . An island countertop separates the living room and kitchen space, all the cooking and coffee equipment in the kitchen add a vibe of a coffee shop to a domestic feel, displaying a unique taste of the place.
“Just enjoy the idle life here!” says cheerful and witty Ellen, making a fitting footnote to the B&B. Open the wooden bar windows connecting the courtyard and savor the pleasant time along with sun-drenched greenery outside. Some of you settle on the sofa, while some of you sit on the small iron chairs and chat, all of you are charmed by the feeling of freedom.
Three rooms draw on ocean imagery in free-spirited hill breeze
After resting a bit, Ellen takes you to the Lovebirds Double Room at the back of the ground floor. The convertible wooden fence window/countertop outside the room provides you a place to enjoy some food or watch the stars. Sliding open the French doors, the mixture of red-brick and wood elements delivers a sense of warmth to the simple room, while a single green sofa by the bed offers another spot for you to sit and ponder. Ascend along the black iron spiral stairs to the second floor and enter Hill Breeze Double Room. Also bearing the free spirit of polished concrete, the room integrates wooden handcrafted furniture, red-brick elements, and decorations into its distinctive personality. Sliding open the French door to the balcony, a scene of rolling hills unfolds before your eyes. Sometimes, gray-faced buzzards can even be spotted. Indulgence Double Room introduces a bit more lively oceanic vibes with a mural depicting lines of sunbeams and a flying seagull, along with the wood boat paddle hung on the wall. These fixtures accompany your dreams to sail to the sea for adventure.
In the evening, step onto the outdoor balcony to watch the streetscape. Let the cool breeze take your worries away; or take a seat in the backyard at the foot of the hill and have some beer with friends, exchanging delightful conversations. When the stars start to shine, the strolling kittens become sleepy and you can take a shower in the bathroom. Refresh yourself with the eco-friendly skincare products from Reise. Selected by the hostesses to gently clean your body, they also replenish your skin, bringing you into deep sweet dreams.
Savor wonderful breakfast in the restful morning rhythm
After sleeping in a little bit, you go downstairs with bleary eyes and collect your bikini drying in the backyard. Later when you step into the living room, bursts of food aroma are floating from the kitchen. Jessie, who loves cooking, is preparing breakfast, while Ellen is making pour-over coffee for the guests. On the wooden table, there are white porcelain plates loaded with fresh fruits and tasty bread and Vienna sausages, along with a cast-iron skillet of Spanish tortilla, for everyone to savor a morning of wonderfulness.
Here, the time is as unhurried as the breeze outside the window, making one just want to idle hours away. In the afternoon, take a ten-minute walk to Nanwan Beach and jump through the waves with your besties, or just stay at Nanwan PS B&B and do nothing. Hope that everyone can make a wonderful footnote to his or her holidays in southern Taiwan, just like putting a “PS” at the end of the diary.
