Located in Yilan, Tree House Builds a Peaceful and Steady Life

Near Dongshan River Water Park, a fair-faced concrete building seemingly stands on the green waters. The fresh wind accompanied by the warm light in the afternoon leads you to step on the wooden path along with the ecological pool via which you enter Tree House. On the rippled water, the light of sun and shadow of clouds reflect, which is dependent with quiet and steady water lilies and composes a joyful landscape. Pushing the main door open, you are welcomed by the mild scent of Chinese cypresses and a row of opened patio doors showcasing the green and trees outside. Upon seeing you, Yan Shuo, the host, walks forward and greets you timidly. This scene seems to be painting out of the free flow.

Everything in Tree House offers the amiable and ordinary impression as the characters of Yan Shuo, but it is hard to imagine that he was a seafarer in the past traveling around the world. The long working time offshore separated him and his family. Until six years ago, the thought of running a B&B popped into his father’s mind and became the resolution for him to leave the drifting life to step on the firm ground and to be rooted in his hometown.

Yan Shuo and his family invited Lin Chin-te, the local architect in Yilan, to design the building and spent about two years to cultivate this newborn brainchild. Finally, Tree House was given birth by the pool in the look of a calm fair-faced concrete building. This place longing for a good and peaceful life is not only for Yan Shuo to come home but also for travelers to berth temporarily.

Each Room Harbors Verdant Views by Waters

Walking into the room, you can smell the heavy scent of Chinese cypress as if big towering trees surrounded you; every breath is full of fragrance, which calms and relaxes you. Nine rooms in Tree House, be it double rooms or quads, are attached to an outdoor balcony. The French windows in each room bring the lush outdoor view into the rooms, be it sitting or lying, you can appreciate the picturesque landscape from different angles.

Three different floors in Tree House show different charming visions as if you lived in a house based on an enormous tree. On the first floor, close to the pond, you and your loved ones reflect in the water, which is the most loving landscape. On the second floor--the middle part of a tree attached to the branches-- you can enjoy the swinging shade of the tress and dance of grass and woods. On the third floor, the top of a tree, you can appreciate both the distant mountainous areas and the nearby reflective face of paddy fields. With these views, your heart is moved and trembling. This moment, all you desire is accompany gentle breeze by the pool to listen to the sound of trees and feel the breath of the water.

Following the texture of the tree, you come up to the third floor and are introduced to the premium room, 305, by the host. In this room, the mild sunlight visits the French windows and warms the fair-faced concrete space with the decoration of Chinese cypresses. Outside the French windows, it is a big private terrace from which the remote mountains, the pond downstairs and the paddy fields around you can be taken into the view. You will be willing to spend the whole afternoon on these beautiful sceneries. When the sun sets, the open-air tub will give your loved one and you a romantic and scented bath. The glass shower with a transparent skylight welcomes you to bath under the moonlight and to take a rest at a night with flowing peace.

A Peaceful and Pleasant Vacation in the Woods and by the Pool

Waking up in the morning, you are lured to welcome a refreshing new day by the morning sun and the bright green. Downstairs, the big Taiwanese buffet sends out a delightful smell, awaiting your descent. Congee and a series of side dishes including sugarcane-smoked duck with the sauce and preserved radish omelet make you drool. A mouthful of congee comforts both your heart and stomach, also filling up the beginning of a day.

Strolling along the path in the tree shades, you hear the conversation between birds and trees, seeing the play of light and shadow among the scent of deciduous cypress and maple. The waters with gentle ripples reflects the color of autumn reciting the innermost hopes of yours. Tree House, the serene soil away from the hustle and bustle, provides you with a vacation for resting your soul.
